People in certain places in India are very fond of fine dining and it is visible in their regular diets and great variety in the cuisine. Gujrati Indian Cuisine includes different types of kachumber, known as salad, pickles, chutneys, and buttermilk and such other things. However, no Gujrati cuisine can be complete without a sweet dish. Therefore, in every Gujrati food a complementary sweet dish is included.

Of late there has been a marked invasion of spicy and fried dishes in Gujrati India Recipes. Such dishes are made in combination of Western with Gujrati food. Some of the Gujrati foods are very healthy as well as popular. One such dish area specific to Saurashtra is Rotis called as Bhakhri, garlic chuney and lots of buttermilk. These breads are made of Bajra flour. The food is very suitable for winter seasons.

Indian Rice is not much favored in the Western provinces. It is mostly bread and milk products that are used. However, sugar cane, jaggery, almonds, and pistachios are also used for various sweet dishes in Gujrat. These are good for festive occasions and banquets and gatherings.

Like the South Indian Recipes, food in Gujrat has many varieties of vegetarian dishes. However, there are not so many varieties when it comes to Non-Vegetarian dishes. Overall, there is a marked predominance of vegetarian food in Gujrat. This is the reason why Madhur Jaffrey has termed Gujrati cuisine as the “the haute cuisine of vegetarianism”.
